Instrumental Transcommunication (ITC)
Instrumental Transcommunication (ITC) is a broad umbrella term for any communication between the living and the deceased that occurs via electronic devices.
While EVP is the most famous subset, ITC also includes visual communication through television screens (Video ITC), radio sweeps, and computer-generated text. The core belief is that spirits can manipulate the raw electronic signals, white noise, or ‘snow’ produced by hardware to form recognizable patterns.

The field has advanced significantly with the development of dedicated ITC software and hardware designed to provide spirits with a ‘vocabulary’ to manipulate. Unlike a simple recording, ITC focuses on real-time, interactive dialogue. Researchers must carefully document the environment to rule out radio interference or signal bleed, ensuring that the responses received are contextually relevant to the investigation.
